Setien's Barcelona outclassed by Valencia as Maxi Gomez stars

Quique Setien's special first-night frame as a mentor in Barcelona ended authoritatively after a shot by Jordi Alba and a shot by Max Gomes helped Valencia win 2-0 against the La Liga on Saturday.

Alba avoided Gomez's home lead early in the next half, and the Uruguayan striker, who lost his penalty in the first half, drifted into the game after 77 minutes as Valencia won its first victory over Barca Mesta in 2008. From now on, the success of Camp Nou, in the mind, also developed successfully as the various countries met during last season's Copa del Rey.

"There are things we obviously need to investigate, clarify and try to look at," Setien said after the match.

"The main side, at best we were bad, was only 0-0. The other big part of the group got better and we had a lot of chances, but that wasn't enough for us."

Lionel Messi stopped several times in the evening after Alba's heartbreak opened, but she couldn't book Cetient as she slipped into her first as Barca manager, as she replaced Ernesto Valvere earlier this month.

The former Real Betis mentor had started with a 1-0 victory at home in Granada at the weekend and leveled it with a 2-1 victory over Ibiza's third division in Copa del Rey midweek. When Valencia starts, Barca will fall first if Real Madrid gets at least a point against Real Valladolid on Sunday.

Valencia's success came without their commander Danny Parejo, who was eliminated, while Gonzalo Guedes dominates a wide range of injured players in clubs. Meanwhile, Barca was left without Luis Suarez and Usman Dembele.

"The facts show that a significant part of our job is the desire to be well positioned to prevent groups from retaliating," Seten said.

"Valencia as a whole is a great group escaping their weight as a whole and having players who can do damage. We have to deal with this.

"The most important thing we're dealing with is the position of certain players and their understanding of what they have to do. One thing is to understand it on the field, it's problematic on the field, much more against a group that defends defenders in Valencia, very generally."

However, Barcaa had over 70 percent of the lead, but when their slender Copa del Rey won in Ibiza on Wednesday, they had no chance. They all landed on the ground.

About 10 minutes after Barca's fortune was concealed, Valencia's first attack was to end on purpose. Jose Luis Guy left the area and was taken somewhere near Gerard Pique, but Max Gomez saw the penalty saved by Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Odds continue. Gomez shatters the bar and Ter Stegen mixes in a running corner by Kevin Gamer. The German was currently saving a shot of good manners from Francis Kokelin.

Finally, Valencia found a leap in tribute after the break as Alba redirected his efforts home in the direction of Gomez. Messi approached the level, finishing wide before attempting to release Jaume Domenach and turning his focus to a distant position.

The host troops remained perilous during the break and fixed three priorities 10 minutes ahead as the regular Gomez got the ball in the box and sent Ter Stegen in the wrong direction.
